The Potty...

Yes the potty. It is an evil thing to try to teach. So much of it is about control and it's hard to teach when you can't tell the other person is understanding how to use control. Our latest potty adventure is with our daughter. We're doing everything in tiny baby steps as communication is limited on our best day. We have the potty chair out and it floats around the house to whatever room dear daughter decides to drag it (great... yeah not excited about that) and we have the ring chair for the "big potty" otherwise known as the toilet. How I long for the days potty will no longer be a word I need to say! We've had this "potty equipment" out off and on since she was 18 months. More to give her an idea of what it is and how one might use it. She's sat on it all dressed and before bath time many a time. We've had tinkles in the pot and rear misses. At Target today we picked out her first official big girl undies and she said "big girl". So Dora, I hope you don't mind getting wet, because you will! Still going with baby steps, the underwear will go under her diaper a few times and when our therapy team is all ready we'll hit the potty with a hard core training plan. Do you think the baby is too young to train? A life with no more diapers seems almost too good to be true!

  1. Yay for big girl!!! It won't happen overnight but think of the money you will eventually save in diapers!!
