Envy

Standing in the middle of the Halloween aisle, trying to pick a costume for my child. I envy the parents with children jumping up and down asking for their favorite costume. I have one child that does that and I know the pain that it can be. But the annoyance that comes with that is nothing compared to what I was going through. Do I risk the costume with the itchy lace on it? Will she even want to touch it? What about the one with the velvet top, will the feel of velvet distract her too much? What would she like? She doesn't watch tv, she has no favorite book. Her favorite toys are cars, but I'm not paying $20 for a cut out picture of a car that you wear over your outfit. Do I try to do a theme with her older brother? Then I have to think about the weather and try to guess if it will be too cold for the short skirts that seem to be the norm these days. In the end we went with the super girl outfit. We'll have a super girl, super man and a monkey this year. Wish us luck!

Oh and to the dad that said to his son "you'll have work on your behavior to earn that light saber" Rock on!
