Our littlest man has been growing fast! I can't believe how much trouble a one year old can get into. I think it has a bit to do with how delayed his sister is, we forgot how a "normal" child develops. I find myself telling people how he picks up a puff the "right way" or how many new words he comes out with in a day. I live in amazement over the smallest things that he does. Things that I can tell you that I celebrated with our oldest but not to the same degree that I do for the youngest. They didn't seem that important back then, before we learned just how hard it can be to learn things.
Our daughter is potty training, she was shocked me at how well she took to using the potty. I'll admit that we have made baby steps since she was 18 months. Things like leaving the potty seat out so that she'd be used to it when it was time to train, putting her on the potty even when she was fully dressed, and teaching her all the steps of using the toilet in little steps. We took a chart of when she goes for two weeks, to have an idea of her pattern, which works pretty well with our schedule. Then we switched from doing "pants checks" every 30 minutes to taking her to the bathroom every 30 minutes. I can say that a week out we are no longer taking her every 30 minutes and she is starting to show us when she has to go. I'm so proud of her. Along with our potty training she has had an amazing week speech wise. Using so many words my head is spinning. It's been wonderful to hear her, fingers crossed that it keeps going so well. I fear that she will slip back into the child that doesn't speak. We've had so many times where she is talking to us and then she goes back into her shell and we can't pull speech out of her to save our lives. Cross your fingers and pray for her that speech sticks around this time.
Kids are just amazing little people aren't they? I'm glad you have been having so much success there lately, it makes the tough days so worth it.
