This Fourth of July has to have been one of my favorites. No running in every which direction and failing to stop to enjoy the day. Hubby worked part of the day, when he came home I ran to the store. Once I got home all we had to go was eat and relax. Making dinner flew by despite the "helpers" by my feet. We had a picnic dinner out of the back patio, gave little ones baths and then sent the middle child off to bed (didn't know how she'd react being up past bed time and fireworks) Then came the real treat Dad, biggest boy and I had DQ, thanks for the free blizzard DQ! After our ice cream was done all that was left was to wait for fireworks to start. Thanks to our law breaking neighbors (pretty much the whole neighborhood) we saw fireworks from our back yard. After awhile I decided to take the boys for a walk. We walked around the neighborhood talking about the meaning of the Fourth of July and why we celebrate it. That was far and away my favorite part of the night. Listening to my four year "get it" and talking about how greatful and proud he was to be American.
On the fifth of July we went our to Grandma and Grandpa's place for some swimming fun. Of course Daddy wouldn't get in the pool and the baby is too young for the pool so they hung out together. I swam with the other two and while our daughter had a blast doing the back stroke our oldest didn't trust the life jacket and wouldn't relax enough to have fun. Of well it was still a great time!
